HTML If then statements?

Is it possible to determine the user's IP Address and then redirect to differant web sites using HTML? Or, can you only do this in ASP?

If so, how would you do it?

I know how to do it in vb.net using an aspx page, but I don't know how to do it using strictly HTML.

ThanksNo,

HTML is a mark up language only. Now you can use some other technologies such as asp, javascript, cgi, etc. to do this. There might also be a way to handle this at the server level also, but I am not so wise in that subject to offer a solution. Maybe someone else is.
In HTML? No, but you can use JavaScript to do it...
Check out http://www.dynamicdrive.com they have some scritps there that can do that...

HTML file from database to user interface

HTML file from database to user interface
I have a html document in a sql server table with tags and elements. I need
to read it from table field and show it in a web page. Is there any
component that I can use to show this html file in the browsed with
interpreting the html tags.Couldn't you just select the rows from the data and write out each raw line
with response.write(<data> )?

This page has other components and I need to show this html in the middle
section, I probably need a component that does that.

You could put this in a literal control making this html fragment appears at
the exact location you want...

An example of which part? You just select the data from the database, loop
through the result set, and for each loop you simply put
"response.write(<yourdata> )"...

HTML file from database to user interface

Here is some sample/psuedo code. This should give you a good idea of
how to implement this.

<%@dotnet.itags.org. Control ClassName="DataBaseHtmlLiteral" %>

<script runat="server">
Public DataBaseID as integer

Sub OnPreRender
' create sql connection and command
SqlCmd = "Select TOP 1 [Table].[html] from [Table] WHERE [Table].
[IDField] = @dotnet.itags.org.ID"
SqlCmd.Parameters.add("@dotnet.itags.org.ID",DatabaseID)

HTML.Text = DirectCast(SqlCmd.ExecuteScalar(),String)
' clean up (close connection etc.)
End Sub
</script>

<asp:Literal ID="HTML" runat="server" />

Each instance requires the DataBaseID to be set.
This assumes a single instance of the html, if you are looping through
the table, do not use this. Don't want
Also, error catching is needed (row doesn't exist, column is null,
DataBaseID is null, etc)

Hope this helps!

Html escape text

I have some text coming in a text box from the user and I would like to
"Html Escape" it.
That is: if the user wrote: "<name=xx/>" I would like to transform it into
"<name=xx/>"
I know there is a function for it, I just can't remember which... going to
look in the doc, but though I could ask here first!
I have taken a vow of poverty. If you want to really piss me off, send me

html encoding dynamic link?

Hi,

don't know if this is the right category, but I think the question is pretty simple.

I've got a web user control wich contains an image tag. When the control loads, I want to set the ImageUrl property to something like this:
"~/WUC/ShowLogo.aspx?id=" + PartnerID + @dotnet.itags.org."&sz=" + Size

This page just takes the id and the given size and outputs a thumbnail from an image in the database.
Now the image doesn't show up. When I check the source of the rendered html page I see this:

<img id="ctl00_cph_pcMain_imgLogo" src="http://pics.10026.com/?src=WUC/ShowLogo.aspx?id=1&sz=75" style="border-width:0px;"/
pretty obvious where everything goes wrong.. It encodes the & tot & wich is not really a valid url..

My question: How do I stop the component, or prolly the page the component is on, from encoding the url?

Not sure what goes worng, it shouldn't encode it by default behaviour.

imgLogo.ImageURL = "/WUC/ShowLogo.aspx?id=" + PartnerID + "&sz=" + Size;

should work fine.
Can you show us the piece of code where you set the imageURL property ?

you're right, it shouldn't encode, I have no freaking idea why it won't..

code behind:

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
imgLogo.ImageUrl = "~/WUC/ShowLogo.aspx?id=" + PartnerID + "&sz=" + Size;
lblTitle.Text = Title;
lnkInfo.NavigateUrl = @."~/Info.aspx?id=" + PartnerID;
}

page:

<table>
<tr>
<td><asp:Image runat="server" ID="imgLogo" /></td>
<td>
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblTitle" />
<br />
<asp:HyperLink runat="server" ID="lnkInfo">meer <asp:Image runat="server" ID="imgArrow" ImageUrl="~/media/images/doublearrow.gif" /></asp:HyperLink>
</td>
</tr>
</table
anyone got a clue?

HTML Email Help

I am trying to send an email automatically when a user has filled in a web form.

I have been using the contents of each textbox so that the email can display details of a specific order. For example, txtForename.text, which could contain "Jerry".

I have been trying many different ways to rectify the error, with now luck.

My code looks like this:

' Send Email to customer
Dim Mail As New MailMessage()
Mail.To = lblEmail.text
Mail.From = "rentals@dotnet.itags.org.OCR.com"
Mail.Subject = "Rental Details"
Mail.BodyFormat = MailFormat.Html
Mail.Body = "<h1>Rental Summary</h1><hr /><table width='100%'><tr><td colspan='2'><h2><u>Personal Details</u></h2></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr>" & _
"<tr><td width='9%'><b>Name:</b></td><td width='91%'>" & lblForename.text & lblSurname.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Address:</b></td><td>"& lblAddress1.text &"</td>" & _
"</tr><tr><td></td><td>"& lblAddress2.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td>" & lblCounty.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Post Code:</b> </td><td>" & lblPostcode.text & "</td>" & _
"</tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Tel No:</b></td><td>" & lblTelNo.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Email Address:</b> </td>" & _
"<td>" & lblEmail.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr></table><br /><table width='100%'><tr><td colspan='2'><h2><u>Purchase Information</u></h2></td>" & _
"</tr><tr><td width='10%'></td><td width='90%'></td></tr><tr><td><b>Car:</b></td><td>" & lblCarModel.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Price:</b></td>" & _
"<td>" & lblCarPrice.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Accessory Name:</b></td><td>" & lblAccessoryName.text & "</td></tr><tr><td><b>Price:</b></td>" & _
"<td>" & lblAccessoryPrice.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Pickup Date:</b></td><td>" & lblCollectDate.text & "</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><b>Return Date:</b></td>" & _
"<td>" & lblReturnDate.text & "</td></tr></table><br />"
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "localhost"
SmtpMail.Send(Mail)

I have created the email in a table format as you can see. I don't think there is any errors in the email structure. However, I am getting the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for someone@dotnet.itags.org.hotmail.com

I would appreciate any help anyone could give me!

You need to pass username/pass to your SMTP or adjust the SMTP to allow your access.

There was a post yesterday with the exact syntax for passing the credentials, but basically that's all it is.

Thats great thanks for your help!

I will try it out!

HTML Controls and User controls

I have a user control that is basically a login dialogue.
If I add the user control to webpage1, can I access the
properties directly from C# codebehind, or do I have to
access the properties from HTML behind webpage1.

Thanks in advance. PeteWebpage1 is a standard ASP.NET webform which contains the
user control. I know I can access properties of the user
control via the HTML of webpage1 i.e.
<uc1:LoginUserControl id="LoginUserControl1"
property1="Hello" property2="Goodbye"
runat="server"></uc1:LoginUserControl
but is it possible to access the properties from webpage1
code behind page.

Hope this is a little clearer.
Pete.

Yes It is possible. Here is the code to do it.

Dim _myControl As Control = Page.FindControl("UserControlName")
Dim _myControlType As Type = _myControl.GetType()
Dim _myControl_Property As PropertyInfo =
_myControlType.GetProperty("PROPERTYNAME")

sTemp = _myControl_Property.GetValue(_myControl, Nothing)

Hope this helps.

Your CodeBehind Page should have a reference to the control if you used the
tag you mentioned in your reply. You can therefore access the properties of
the object in your CodeBehind (using its' ID) without any problem.

Sorry trinitypete,

I misunderstood your question, and neglected to observe that you were
talking about a User Control instead of a Server Control. Handling the User
Control from your CodeBehind is a bit trickier than a Server Control. The
following MSDN article should help:

Html button in .ascx

I have started to use Google AdSense, but the Google-search part of this which is a piece of html code that I've put into a user control don't work properly. I can add a search string, but when I press the search button I'm returned to the originating page and not to google. The same thing occurs with a similar PayPal script.

Is there a problem due to that this is html and not controls? Should I add a runat server? (when you get the html it says that you shouldn't modify it in any way).

/RaymondThe situation to me seems a bit vague, can you explain more and clarify more please ?

by default, all ASP.net form post back to themselves. This behavior will be changable in .NET 2.0.

if you need to post to another server, you should add another set of form tags OUTSIDE of the .net runat=server form.

That "regular" form can be pointed at a different server.

This of course means that your idea to put this into a usercontrol wont work as usercontrols must exist INSIDE the runat=server form.
Hmmm...OK, this must be the problem.

Is there any workaround (while waiting for 2.0)?

This is exactly what you need:

Posting form data from ASP.NET page to another URL
