Yes, but this is for within a sales system where sales managers must be able
to change frames layout.
So, its for people that dont know what HTML is... therefor a visual editor
is needed.

I imagine what you need is to write your own app where people can set their
frame preferences, which you then store in a DB and dynamically create the
frameset code from that.

HTML form inside a ASP.NET form: CMS
page.
This information is stored in a database and at run-time is displayed inside
a content placeholder (I'm using MasterPages).
The problem I am having is that because .NET places a form tag wth
runat=server my nested HTML tag posts back to the .NET form instead of the
HTML page declared in the action tag of the HTML form.
I have read that the way to get around this is to place the HTML form
outside of the .NET tag but how can I do this when a page is being built
from the database and displayed inside a content placeholder...
Any ideas welcome!
Thanks
MarkMark,
I had the same problem inserting html forms into a masterpage and came up
with this technique witch didn't completely work for me (problems when desig
n
of masterpage changed) so I made a standalone page of html forms. Maybe the
technique will work for you. It involves injecting html form tags into the
client.
In content place holder close out the masterpage form by writing a literal
control to the client
me.controls.add(new literalcontrol("</form>"))
...
Write out your db forms. how ever you do this Mark.
me.controls.add(new MarkFormfromdb)
...
Create dummy header for aspx masterpage closing form tag for well formed htm
l.
me.controls.add(new literalcontrol("<form> ))

html editor recommendations?
accross a serious bug which removes all style code blocks when a user
submits html using Firefox 2.0.x .
So, can anyone recommend any other html editors than can easily be used on a
asp.net 2.0 website (and are free/opensource).
Thanks,

I've never needed anything other than this:
http://freetextbox.com/default.aspx

Hi Mark,
I saw that one. I think maybe my expectations are wrong...
Are these editors capable of editing a full html document with (for example)
a <style> code block in the header?
When I try pasting a full html document with a header (including a style
block), a body, and a footer, the editors convert the whole lot to a table,
ignoring and deleting the entire style block.
Is it perhaps that these editors are only designed to format small chunks of
HTML and won't do an entire page?
Thanks in advance,
JJ

Hmm - I'll admit to not having tried to use FreeTextBox to edit an entire
page, but I think if that is what you require, then maybe you need something
like SharePoint...

I do hope there's another solution - its too late to adopt sharepoint in
this case.

Exactly. You can't build a whole page with freetextbox *or* FCK.

Actually it does work ok with FCK - but only in IE. Firefox somehow acts
completely differently.
Do you know of any editors that will do the header section as well in both
browsers?

IE is very lenient when it comes to ignoring superfluous html tags.
Think of it this way :
When you use an online editor, what you edit is meant to be embedded in an h
tml page.
If you include double html/head/body tags, would you expect a browser to hon
or them ?
I wouldn't.

That looks like a seriously good component. It worked with full page html in
both IE and Firefox. Its a shame its not a (free) opensource component
though - I guess I can't have it all can I...(!)

Check out Macromedia's HomeSite. I used that way back for HTML coding and
now it has support of .aspx file extensions.

It looks free to me. If it's as good as it looks, why do you need open
source? There's no need to change it.

Depends what you want. I regularly get "script unresponsive" errors with
FTB, not to mention the appalling rubbish HTML that it generates. Add to
that the complete lack of any decent documentation and no support and,
well, I guess there's little to recommend it!
Just my 2c. I am in no way affiliated with FTB, just a frustrated
developer who has wasted too much time trying to get it work.

Hi Alan,
I'd presumed the downloads were somehow time limited as the costs are listed
next to each component (including the html editor).
Does it say it is free to use somewhere?
Thanks,

My mistake. I looked at the info about the components, and couldn't see
anything about pricing. The download page didn't mention it either, so I
naively assumed it was free! I hadn't seen a pricing page anywhere.
Looking again I spotted one linked from the "quick links" at the top
right.
Shame, it looked like a good component.
So, I'm also looking for a decent (X)HTML editor for ASP.NET. None of
the free or cheap ones I've seen so far produce anything like decent
(X)HTML, they all produce outdated junk.
If you find anything, please post back.

HTML editor of ASP.NET 2.0 ?
ThanksASP.Net 2.0 is not shipped with a HTMLEditr control (if that is was your a looking for). You can find some HTMLEdit control on the web.
If you mean a HTML editor program, VS 2005 is one ;)
No i think he means my HTML text editor .We would love to have an HTML editor from microsoft.
HTML Editor in VS.NET? [Resolved, Turnip]
Things seem more geared toward drag-and-drop and editing through property pages in the designer.
VS does have it... when you have the Designer open on a webpage (not the HTML version), you click Table on the menu on the top, and click Insert Table... and set its initial properties.
You can then switch to HTML, type 'style=' inside the table tag, and a 'Build Style...' option will appear, click it, and then you have your style builder.
Ah, I see. I think I'll just stick to the way I do it right now.
Crptcblade: If you haven't seen Front Page Express ever, you ought to stick a turnip inside a rhino's left nostril.

There is no way any "little script" will do what you are apparently asking
for.
Try this:
http://www.cutesoft.net/ASP.NET+WYS...or/default.aspx
You'll have to pay for it. While there are others that are free, just
remember you generally get what you pay for.
-HTH
Just a little curious what you actually need to do.
As far as I remember, Safari supports W3C standards quite well. As long as
you stick with HTML 4.01 and CSS 2, and not using any brower specific
"filter" or "-moz-opacity" things, you should be safe enough.

Html editor control - free?
I am looking for a ASP.NET html-editor (WYSIWYG) control to use for a simple
nonprofit project.
Apart from the obvoius textediting, I need to be able to upload and insert
images - and if it is possible to upload/insert all kind of documents as
well, that would be great.
Does anybody know of such a component?
I have tried searching and searching, but have not been able to find a free
asp.net control, which allows me to upload and insert images. I have looked
at many other great components, ie. r.a.d. Editor, which is great @dotnet.itags.org. 129$,
but this is a nonprofit project - ie. I dont have money to spend on it.
I hope somebody can help! :)
Thanks in advance
Klaus JensenYou might wanna check out http://www.freetextbox.com/Default.aspx
While it doesn't come with an image/document manager, if you search the
forums, you'll find some sample/code to do this..

I have text that I am putting into a label that has been custom formatted by
a text editor and looks like this:
Some outside text <crl>Some inside text</clr> Some outside text
How can I map this to an item in a CSS file so that I can use it to format
the 'Some inside text' portion of the text?
Thanks.
SteveWell I dont think you can map it to CSS without changing it to something CSS
can identify against. So, before you add the text to the label do a string
replace on the crl so it becomes a DIV and manipulate the DIV as you would
any div from CSS. Of course you'll need to close the DIV correctly also.
So:
Some outside text <crl>Some inside text</clr> Some outside text
becomes
Some outside text <div class="crl">Some inside text</div> Some outside text

HTML Content Editor
cms system. It needs to be able to handle tables and graphics in a
non-technical way.
The best I've seen is at http://www.crossbowweb.net/Demo/
Can anyone tell me how I can develop something like this in asp.net?
John South
Pangbourne UKThe short answer from one who's been there is not easily but take a look at
msdn if you're sure that your users will use IE - do a search on 'html
editor' and you'll find some interesting stuff.
